Atletico Madrid & Malaga Keen On Reaching Pre-Contract Agreement With Cardiff City Striker Jay Bothroyd

Jay Bothroyd is a target for both Atletico Madrid and Malaga who are considering the option of offering a pre-contract agreement to the striker in January, according to Sky Sports.

Bothroyd is reportedly attracting a lot of interest due to the fact he is out of contract in the summer, and the Spanish clubs have seemingly joined several Premier League teams in being linked with the in-form Cardiff man.

Mark Hughes has, however, cooled speculation linking Fulham with a move for the striker in the January transfer window.

Hughes said, as quoted by the Press Association: "I'm aware of Jay because I worked with him at Blackburn and maybe that's where the speculation is coming from.

"He was still a young player finding his way when I was there and he had a few problems at his previous clubs.

"He has certainly matured from that point of view but from my knowledge he is very much a Cardiff player."

We Are Strong Enough To Overcome Our Problems - Atletico Madrid Winger Jose Reyes

Atletico Madrid midfielder Jose Antonio Reyes feels that there is enough quality in the side to forget their problems suffered so far this season, and push for a place in the top four.

The 2010 Europa League winners surrendered their title with a whimper, being eliminated at the group stages of this year's tournament, and are currently trailing Valencia by two points in the race for the Champions League positions.

Former Arsenal and Real Madrid winger Reyes believes that the team is capable of putting together an unbeaten run in the second half of the campaign in order to grab that coveted place among Europe’s elite.

He stated, “In this season so far we have had our ups and downs, but we are only two points behind the Champions League places, which is our goal. We had a bad week with defeats against Aris and Espanyol, but we are a strong team and we can overcome the bad times.

“It is very difficult to be on top of your game for the entire season, to a good standard, and all teams go through ups and downs. We have made mistakes, but we are working together to turn them around.

“We still have a lot of the season ahead, and we know we can do things very well. We should not rush. We are working on it and want to return to the league with great strength.”

Reyes also said that he hopes to remain fit and available for the team in the year ahead, adding, “I want to improve, I like the fans to be happy with my work, but I must be demanding of myself and keep improving with Atletico. I want to stay here and live through more success.”

John Cena vs Randy Orton IS NOT The Rock vs Steve Austin.

John Cena Vs Randy Orton The Two Currently Most Popular In WWE. but Why John Cena vs Randy Orton IS NOT Rock vs Austin for WM? We Never had Chance to See The Rock vs Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania But We Believe it Would be Better Then The Rock vs Austin or Shawn vs Austin or may be Shawn vs Bret Hart But Never better Then Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker.

I have seen many WM predictions over the years and this comparison always rears it's ugly head. Is it just me or is the comparison of Cena vs. Orton and Austin vs. The Rock getting old?

The only thing that can really be justly compared is that both superstars involved are the most popular in their respective eras. Aside from that I see no comparison.

The Rock vs. Austin was the one of the top most ENTERTAINING Feud in WWE history. Orton vs. Cena was one of the Most LONG DRAWN OUT WATERED DOWN FEUDS in WWE history about a month after it started.

Rock and Austin's matches and confrontations throughout their careers successfully built off the last and made you want more. Cena vs. Orton...com-on does anyone want to see that again? Based on their previous confrontations and matches over the years, I don't know how someone would truly want to see them feud again. I am not as enthralled with WWE as I used to be, Cena and Orton are my favorites, been so since 2004, I would love to see them fight at Mania because I love the guys, so if it made sense or not, I would probably like it because I am weird like that, but from a TOTALLY different perspective...REALLY? It would be a different story if their feud was a HUGE success, but their feud went on too long and there were no memorable matches or moments that stick out. From their feud in late 2009, they had like what? 4 straight PPV matches between the two?

Atletico Madrid Striker Diego Forlan Out For Up To Three Weeks With Ankle Sprain

Diego Forlan facing spell on the sidelines after spraining ankle during Atletico Madrid's win over Espanyol.
Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan faces up to three weeks out after suffering an ankle sprain during their 1-0 Copa del Rey victory over Espanyol.

The Uruguayan was forced to leave the pitch after just 15 minutes of play after pulling up in distress, and was immediately replaced.

Los Colchoneros’ medical team assessed the injury and have diagnosed a sprain of the ligaments, which will is likely to see him miss the second leg against the Blanc I Blau, with the tie precariously poised thanks to Simao’s penalty on his final appearance for the club.

The World Cup Golden Ball winner, who was presented with the award prior to kick off, is also likely to miss the first league match of 2011, against Racing at the Vicente Calderon.

Forlan has struggled for form in front of goal this season, netting just seven goals in 17 appearances in all competitions.

Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 27 or Not ?

According to published reports Wednesday, word around the WWE locker room is that Shawn Michaels may ultimately be revealed as the anonymous WWE Raw general manager at WrestleMania 27.

One rumored scenario suggests the following will happen: The Undertaker will put his undefeated streak on the line at WrestleMania 27 in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome against a fellow headliner (possibly Triple H, John Cena, Kane, or an outside sports entertainment celebrity). In the weeks leading up to the main event, a special guest referee will be announced: the anonymous WWE Raw GM, whose identity will then be revealed publicly at WrestleMania 27.

* SHAWN MICHAELS ANNOUNCES NEW DEAL WITH WWE

Shawn Michaels as the Raw GM and guest referee would mean the man whose career ended at the hands of the Undertaker will now have the power to end the Undertaker's streak.

Could this be the storyline WWE runs with for the biggest pay-per-view of the 2011?

Forlan suffers ankle injury

MADRID, Dec 22, 2010 (AFP) - Uruguay’s footballer of the World Cup finals Diego Forlan injured ligaments in his right ankle on Wednesday and will be out for an unspecified amount of time.

The 31-year-old striker - who had an outstanding World Cup scoring five goals as Uruguay finished fourth for their best performance since the 1970 finals - had to go off in the 14th minute of Atletico Madrid’s 1-0 Spanish Cup Last 16 first leg victory over Espanyol.

Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo Confirms Simao Sabrosa Will Join Besiktas

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has confirmed midfielder Simao Sabrosa will be leaving the Spanish side to join Turkish powerhouse Besiktas.

The Portuguese winger will be leaving the club after being at los Cochoneros for three years, and winning the Europa League and UEFA Super Cup. The 31-year-old's final match will be against Espanyol in the Copa del Rey on Thursday, where he will have a chance to say goodbye to the fans.

"Simao is fully confirmed to leave, and will say goodbye on Thursday before he goes to Besiktas for 2-3 seasons," Cerezo revealed as reported by Goal.com Spain.

"He will leave the club on Thursday, saying goodbye to his team-mates and then he will sign for Besiktas."

A figure of €2 million will be the transfer fee of the winger, whose contract with the Spanish side was set to expire at the end of the season, with little hope of having a renewed contract being offered.

Besiktas are currently in fifth position in the Turkish league on 28 points, 14 behind leaders Trabzonspor.

Milan Playmaker Ronaldinho Agrees Terms With Boyhood Club Gremio

Gremio president Paulo Odone has revealed that the club have agreed terms with Milan playmaker Ronaldinho. The 30-year-old began his career with the Porto Alegre outfit, making his debut in the 1998 Copa Libertadores.

With Sampdoria striker Antonio Cassano on his way to San Siro, it's been suggested that the Brazilian star is keen to leave after falling behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho in the pecking order up front and now the player is expected to speak with the Rossoneri about a divorce.

"On the part of Gremio and Ronaldinho everything is already set," Odone explained to RBS TV.

"What remains now is for [Ronaldinho's agent Roberto de] Assis to negotiate the release of the player from the Italian club. The important thing is that Ronaldinho wants to return to Gremio, where his house is and where he learned football."

Ronaldinho joined the Rossoneri in 2008 from Barcelona for a fee of €18.5 million and was recently recalled to the Selecao squad by coach Mano Menezes after being omitted from the 2010 World Cup by Dunga.

Samuel Eto’o Rejects Best African Player Ever Accolade

The 2010 Glo-CAF African Best Footballer Samuel Eto’o has refused to be described as the best Africa has ever had in the area of football.

The Cameroonian last Monday became the first ever player on the continent to have won the prestigious individual CAF award for the fourth time beating three-time winners Abedi Ayew Pele of Ghana and George Weah of Liberia.

"That would be impossible to say. To win the Footballer of the Year four times is to create a new record but I don't think it gives me the right to say I am the best," the Inter ace told Reuters in Cairo after accepting his award.

"There were greats in previous generations who had different challenges and situations to me. You can't really compare the times.

"Now there are youngsters who are climbing the ladder of success behind me and who are coming up really fast. Who is to say who is the best?"

The 29-year-old has won the African cup twice with 18 goals in six final tournaments making him the highest goal scorer ever in the tournament. He has also competed at three World Cup finals.

He won a treble last season – The Scudetto, Coppa Italia and the Champions League. He is yet to win the World Best Player.

WWE: When Is Triple H Returning to the Ring?

WWE is still big around the world, even if it isn't nearly as popular as when superstars like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and Shawn Michaels ruled the world, but one of the major superstars of that era is still around and hasn't been seen for some time.

Triple H has been out with an assortment of injuries for some time now and his comeback has been speculated for a while. There is no real timetable for him to return, but according to a report on F4WOnline.com, Triple H will be taking a more involved role at TV tapings in the next couple of weeks.

It's not shocking that he's got his hands in the behind-the-scenes stuff, but what is shocking is how well it's gone when he's been in charge. It's been reported to have been a much less stressful working atmosphere then when Vince McMahon is running things, especially for the announcing team, which doesn't have to deal with Vince screaming in their ear all night long.

While he's a perfect fit for that kind of work, I think we can all safely say that we want to see Triple H back in the ring sooner rather than later.

Besiktas Set To Sign Atletico Madrid Winger Simao Sabrosa - Report

Turkish powerhouse Besiktas are on the verge of signing former Portugal international Simao Sabrosa from La Liga side Atletico Madrid for a reputed fee of €2.5 million, if a report in A Bola is to be believed.

Besiktas only sit fifth in the league table halfway through the season with 28 points from 17 games, trailing table toppers Trabzonspor by 14 points.

Therefore, head coach Bernd Schuster is eager to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window in an attempt to get back in the title race and the German gaffer apparently sees Simao as the perfect addition to his squad.

Simao's current contract with Atletico runs until the summer of 2011 and the Rojiblancos are hesitant to offer the winger a new deal and they could very well decide to cash in on Simao this winter.

The report claims that all parties involved have already agreed terms and the deal will be finalised on Thursday.

African Comment: Who Gets Glo-CAF African Footballer Of The Year In 2011?

On Monday Dec. 20, Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o became the “King” of African football for another year when he was named Player of the Year for the fourth time, becoming the first African player to get the accolade in quadruple. His easy smile while receiving the trophy depicted, beyond the sense of joy, a feeling of excess.

After three recognitions in a row (2003, 2004, 2005), could a fourth really enthral Eto’o like the discovery of a precious metal?

Not naturally, maybe a Fifa Ballon D’Or would have instead; however, the Inter Milan hit-man got the reward for his worthwhile 2010 football year, which the CAF voters expressed without ambiguity.

But Eto’o may likely make a comeback in next year’s Glo-CAF awards going by his consistency and lack of a robust challenger within the continent and from the diaspora. Will Eto’o be able to clinch the 2011 Glo-CAF Player of the Year award?

Think about it, like I’m thinking too.

Drogba is in serious decline, both in club and national team. The Drogbamania is ebbing like the trend of an old dance whose choreography school children are spending less time in learning.

He can still surge to contend for next year’s title if he ameliorates his personal performance and if the tide turns for him and currently un-inspiring Chelsea during the rest days of the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. And also, if he graciously helps Cote D’Ivoire qualify for the 2012 AFCON, which the Elephants can do themselves without the service of their 32-year-old ex-captain.

Asamoah Gyan narrowly missed it, but he has a bright future and might be around again in 2011, but he has to be more remarkable in his Sunderland outfit and back home with the Black Stars, which is not the case at the moment. His 2010 Fifa World Cup fame is drying up like a fig tree growing out of season. He needs to float new records or break old ones, to expect being included in next year’s CAF’s list.

Who else?

Ghanaian-born Michael Essien seems to have been overtaken by time and events, and slowly sinking into oblivion. Nigeria’s Mikel Obi is still not living up to expectation, but his compatriot Peter Odemwingie, who recently joined West Bromwich Albion, sounds a name. He may climb up the list if he maintains his current play form both in club and national team.

Senegal has two potential elements that could explode the scene next year. Fenerbahçe’s Mamadou Niang and Lille’s Moussa Sow. Both players are top scorers in their leagues and national team, and judging by their average match input, 2011 may be theirs.

Well, it still too early to scribble names of possible contenders for next year’s award, but the present can give a flimsy prophecy of tomorrow.

Mind you, there’s no African Nations Cup finals in 2011, so players will likely be appraised with the 2012 AFCON qualifiers and club performances, let the music play on!

The Best German Footballer Is Currently Injured - Diego Forlan On Michael Ballack

World Cup golden ball winner Diego Forlan has given a vote of confidence to injury-plagued Bayer Leverkusen star Michael Ballack. The Uruguay and Atletico Madrid striker believes that Ballack is the best German player in the game at the moment.

"I think the best German player is currently injured," Forlan told Sport-Bild, alluding to Ballack. "He and [Bastian] Schweinsteiger in midfield - it can't be much better."

And when asked his opinion of the best German striker, the Uruguayan replied: "Miroslav Klose."

Forlan was disappointed not to have faced Ballack at the World Cup, or in either of Atletico's Europa League clashes with Leverkusen.

Malaga Keen On Atletico Madrid Goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo - Report

Highly rated glovesman Sergio Asenjo could be on his way out of Europa League holders Atletico Madrid as La Liga side Malaga have shown an interest in signing the promising goalkeeper, according to a report in Marca.

Malaga have been in disappointing form this season and currently sit 18th in the table. They have already conceded 35 goals in 16 outings and head coach Manuel Pellegrini is desperate to strengthen his squad.

The former Real Madrid gaffer has reportedly made the capture of a new keeper his primary target and he supposedly sees the 21-year-old Asenjo as the perfect signing.

Asenjo started his professional career with Real Valladolid and moved to Atletico in the summer of 2009. However, a serious knee injury halted his progress and the Spain under-21 star has mainly been warming the bench since his return to full match fitness.

Therefore, Asenjo could be on his way out of the Rojiblancos in the January transfer window in order to get regular first team action elsewhere.

Atletico Madrid And Sevilla Interested In Mallorca Winger Gonzalo Castro - Report

Mallorca winger Gonzalo Castro has attracted the interest of La Liga sides Atletico Madrid and Sevilla, as well as suitors in the Ukraine and Germany, reports suggest.

Diario de Mallorca comments that the Uruguayan, who has been one of the Balearic club’s key performers this season, is available in January as the club look to cash in on his current form.

With his contract at the Islanders expiring in the summer of 2012, the cash-strapped side will demand just €4 million for the 26-year-old.

As a result, both Atleti and struggling Sevilla have expressed an interest, although neither club has reached the negotiation stage with Mallorca.

Former Real Madrid coach Juande Ramos, who is now in charge at Ukrainian outfit Dnipro, is also monitoring Castro closely, as is an unnamed Bundesliga side.

With Mallorca not willing to offer the player a new contract at this time, it appears in all likelihood that Castro will move on when the winter market opens on January 1.

Lionel Messi Is Not Good Enough For Stoke City & Barcelona Would Struggle In England - Top EPL Journalist Andy Gray

Top English Premier League TV pundit and journalist Andy Gray has sensationally remarked that Barcelona’s World Player of the Year Lionel Messi would struggle to cope with the rigours of the English Premier League, and believes he could not cut it away at Stoke City.

The Sky Sports host, who enjoyed spells with Aston Villa and Everton during his playing career, was discussing the 2010 Ballon d’Or nominees during Monday evening’s broadcast of Manchester City versus Everton.

When asked by co-presenter Richard Keys whether he felt Messi and Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo would be capable of scoring so prolifically in England, Gray stated his belief that the Argentine would "struggle in a cold night at the Britiannia Stadium", referring to the home of top-flight side Stoke City. He added that "Barcelona would struggle in the EPL as they've never played the likes of Stoke."

The 55-year-old also claimed that La Liga, when compared to its English equivalent, did not have the same depth of quality, hinting that Ronaldo and Messi would labour to score as consistently, despite the former scoring 31 goals in 34 matches for Manchester United in the 2007-08 season.

Furthermore, on Ronaldo, Gray criticised the decision to omit the Portuguese from the final of the Ballon d’Or, but added that he "would not be the player that he is today had he not played in English football".

Gray's remarks have caused quite a stir around the world, and the SKY pundit has been heavily criticised on social networking sites such as facebook and twitter.

Johan Cruyff Offers Veiled Criticism Of Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo In Weekly Column

Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff has launched an attack on Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo in his weekly column, after the Portuguese had made comments regarding the Blaugrana’s recent win against Almeria.

Ronaldo, when asked his opinion on the champions' 8-0 win over the Andalucian side, said that the result proved nothing because they could not score eight against Real Madrid.

Recalling the incident, Cruyff remarked in El Periodico de Catalunya: “The eight goals against Almeria seemed as if they had been handed to Barca, and someone very smart, I repeat, someone very clever, asked if they would be able to score eight against Madrid.

“And look, they only managed five against them, but it could easily have been eight. This is because of the hunger of Pep’s side, which is insatiable.”

Cruyff also praised the team for becoming the standard setters in world football, adding: “The club are by far and away the most exquisite team in the world. How have we got here? Because we have recognised our errors, and this has finally resulted in excellent football.”

Quique Sanchez Flores: Atletico Madrid Were 'Greatly Improved' After Their 3-0 Victory Over Malaga

Atletico Madrid were able to beat Malaga quite comfortably in the end thanks to two goals from Tiago and one from defender Alvaro Dominquez. The win moves Quique Sanchez Flores' men into sixth place and he hopes that they will be able to push on from here and have a good run in the New Year.

"We have greatly improved offensively and defensively, and though we suffer, we are improving" he said when speaking to elcorreo.com

"We expected a team enraged, with intensity and desire because they are battling relegation. We have come away [from this game] having played a good defensive game".

The match had been built up as "Simao's final game" for los rojiblacancos and the coach spoke about the outgoing Portuguese winger, explaining he was "blameless" for that occurance and that they were forced to sell Simao onto Besiktas.

The supporters of Mardid will be sad to see the winger leave, who after three-and-a-half years failed to aquire a new contract from the Spanish outfit. Tonight proved to be a perfect farewell as Simao was involved in all three goals.

Malaga 0-3 Atletico Madrid: Simao Bids Farewell To Los Colchoneros With A Majestic Performance

Los Colchoneros picked up the three points against Malaga in a tightly contested affair at Estadio La Rosaledo tonight. Tiago scored the opener midway through the second half, Alvaro Dominguez added a second after the break and Tiago completed his brace with twenty minutes to play to help Atleti ascend to sixth in the standings.

Neither team dominated in the early minutes of the game and chances were few and far between in front of both goals. The visitors, however, began to pick up steam as the game progressed and soon took the lead through Tiago in the 22nd minute.

The Portuguese midfielder headed past Ruben, following a cross by Simao from a free-kick on the left. Duda almost clawed one back ten minutes later with a free-kick which everybody, but David De Gea missed.

The game continued to be played at a slow tempo and the clear-cut chances were pretty much missing and the visitors entered the half-time break with a one-goal lead.

The restart saw little change in the way the game was played despite Malaga lining up in a more offensive formation. Still, the hosts were struggling to create upfront and were looking very susceptible on set-pieces.

In the 66th minute Los Colchoneros doubled their lead through Dominguez who headed past Ruben after the ball was flicked on by Tiago, following a free-kick by Simao. Three minutes later Malaga conceded once again from a set-piece and it was Simao again with a free-kick which found the unmarked Tiago in the box, who easily scored from close range.

Substitute Quincy Owusu-Abeyie wasted the hosts' best chance of the game when he blasted a free shot from the right side of the box into the netting, following a howler from Filipe Kasmirski. This proved to be the final moment of interest and the match finished 3-0.

Following tonight's result Atletico Madrid are sixth in the standings, while Malaga are third from bottom. Los Colchoneros' next league game is at home against Racing on the 2nd January, while Manuel Pellegrini's men visit Sporting de Gijon on the same day.

Drogba is the current holder of the award, with Eto'o being last year's runner-up. Now it seems as though Eto'o will go head to head with Gyan to determine the final placing of for 2010.

Eto'o arrived in Cairo early on Sunday, sharing a flight from Abu Dhabi with CAF president Issa Hayatou. The forward had been successfully contesting the Club World Cup with Inter in the UAE city.

Meanwhile Gyan will attend the ceremony in the Egyptian capital fresh from being named the BBC African Footballer of the Year.

Drogba is set to arrive in Cairo on Monday after his original flight was delayed.

Manchester City Back In For £50 Million Liverpool Star Fernando Torres As Replacement For Carlos Tevez - Report

City are desperate to fill the boots of Carlos Tevez after it emerged recently that he wants out of the Manchester club, according to The News of the World.

Torres could be the player whom City manager Roberto Mancini brings in should his Argentine striker leave for pastures new.

An exit clause in the Spanish striker’s contract could force Liverpool to sell if a bid of £50m is tabled.

It is understood that Torres would still prefer a move to Chelsea ahead of City, and that the forward would prefer to wait for the summer, when he would have more time to consider his options.

Though Mancini will be able to out-bid any transfer rivals, with a reported £250,000-a-week package being considered, it is trophies, not financial rewards, that Torres is craving.

The prospect of playing Champions League football is looking ever more doubtful for Liverpool, who have struggled so far this season, and a move away from the Merseyside club could be necessary if the striker wants to play in Europe’s top competition.

City have been pursuing Torres for two years now, seeing a £60m bid for the star rejected 18 months ago.

City’s position in the world of football has strengthened since then and as a result he could be tempted to sign for the club.

Elsewhere in the Premier League Roman Abramovich would have to table a bid reminiscent of his early days at Chelsea should he want to bring the player to Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool’s official line is that Torres is not for sale, though given the striker’s recent form and the club’s current position in the table, a big enough bid could see a parting of the ways that is profitable for all concerned.

Both City and Chelsea could, though, face competition from Barcelona, as it is also reported that the Catalan giants, financially re-invigorated following a lucrative shirt sponsorship deal, are contemplating an £85m summer swoop for both Torres and their long-time target, Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.

Torres is currently placed 65th in the Castrol Rankings, while Tevez is 17th and Fabregas 40th.

Didier Drogba Wants A Two-Year Contract Extension At Chelsea - Report

The Blues' forward has 18 months left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge, and will be 34 by the time that contract expires.

The News of the World claims that the upper echelon at the club are reluctant to bow to the forward's desire to play for two more years, owing to his diminished form in recent weeks, though the effects of a bout of malaria may well have contributed to that.

There have been suggestions that the Ivory Coast international is past his prime, with some quarters citing the fact that the hitman was benched for last week's crucial encounter against Tottenham Hotspur.

To his credit, however, the former Olympique Marseille man came on to score the leveller. And he had the opportunity to grab the winner, too, with a spot-kick, though the 32-year-old was unable to convert the penalty and the game ended all square at one-apiece.

Drogba is currently 16th in the Castrol Rankings, down from ninth the previous month.

Meanwhile, there are also reports that the Chelsea squad may have lost some of its unity following the sacking of popular assistant manager Ray Wilkins. His dismissal has coincided with a slump in form that has seen the team slip from first to fourth and fail to win any of their last five Premier League fixtures.

England Could Host 2014 World Cup If Brazil Run Into A Roadblock - Report

And The People claims that senior members of the FA will have a meeting this week to discuss the timing and strategy of the rescue plan, should one be necessary.

This comes only a fortnight after Fifa executive committee members decided not to pick England over other bidders when it came to selecting the host for the 2018 edition of the tournament.

Progress in Brazil is reported to be worryingly slow, although it is not thought to have become a crisis situation just yet.

But it is said that the FA will hold talks with Fifa as a contingency position, so there is a back-up plan in place if Brazil cannot get their stadia and airports built by the time the governing body takes the final decision about whether or not the tournament will go ahead there in four years' time.

Barcelona To Splash €100 Million To Bring In Arsenal Skipper Cesc Fabregas & Liverpool's Fernando Torres Next Summer - Report

Barcelona are reportedly plotting a €100 million splurge to sign Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas and Liverpool forward Fernando Torres.

The Spanish side are thought to have received a significant boost in flexing their financial muscle through their recent shirt sponsorship deal, and The Mirror claims that this will enable them to go after the two Premier League players.

Fabregas has been linked with a move back to the Catalan club for a few seasons now, and seemed to be close to joining them last summer. He was, however, persuaded to continue plying his trade with the north London club after a discussion with manager Arsene Wenger.

But it has now been reported that the Gunner may not remain at Ashburton Grove if the Catalan heavyweights come calling once more.

Torres has had a hit-and-miss season so far at Liverpool, and is also thought to be on Real Madrid's radar. But it is said that being a former Atletico Madrid player would make him disinclined to make a move to the Bernabeu.

Kaka Returns To Squad Training With Real Madrid - Report

There was further good news for the Portuguese tactician as Sergio Ramos and Fernando Gago were also able to join the bulk of the squad in their limbering up exercises prior to the weekend fixture at the Bernabeu. While Gago has also been a long-term problem, swashbuckling defender Ramos sustained minor ligament damage in his right knee last weekend.
