Atletico Madrid defender Antonio Lopez had stressed that the players are refusing to consider the notion that coach Quique Sanchez Flores could leave at the end of the season.A run of one win in seven matches has left Sanchez Flores’ future hanging in the balance, with Rafa Benitez being tenuously linked to the post at the end of the season.
Speaking to the media today, the full-back said that the team must concentrate on winning matches in order to show backing for the coaching staff.
He remarked: “We feel we have to win, we do not value the option of the coach not being with us, because he has given us two titles and although we have not done well, we have overcome adversity. Now we need to be closer together than ever.
“We are all going in the same direction, the coaching staff and players are heading in the same direction, and we are doing all we can to take this forward.
“The team's image has not been all bad, but there is no use complaining and all we can do is to keep working to pull this off. To get around this, work, work, work, is what we need to be doing."
