The former Olympique Marseille man has been in exceptional form this season for the Gunners, tallying up a total of 10 goals in 20 appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side, on the back of decent run of at the back end of last term
Nasri did not feature in Les Bleus' atrocious performance in the World Cup in South Africa this year, after Raymond Domenech chose to leave him out the squad. This actually helped Nasri in the voting, however, as many pundits chose to ignore all 23 players who went to South Africa for the debacle that ensured their early exit.
The Arsenal No. 8 topped the polling table with a total of 99.5 points ahead of Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda (90). Malouda had a terrific start to the season but was hampered by the part he played in Domenech's summer squad and his club side's recent struggles. Chelsea have taken six points from their last seven Premier League games and have not won in their last five.
Lyon’s goalkeeper Hugo Lloris came third on 83 points. Lyon’s Yoann Gourcuff won the award last year and Bayern Munich’s Frank Ribery won the award in 2007 and 2008.
