Diario de Mallorca comments that the Uruguayan, who has been one of the Balearic club’s key performers this season, is available in January as the club look to cash in on his current form.
With his contract at the Islanders expiring in the summer of 2012, the cash-strapped side will demand just €4 million for the 26-year-old.
As a result, both Atleti and struggling Sevilla have expressed an interest, although neither club has reached the negotiation stage with Mallorca.
Former Real Madrid coach Juande Ramos, who is now in charge at Ukrainian outfit Dnipro, is also monitoring Castro closely, as is an unnamed Bundesliga side.
With Mallorca not willing to offer the player a new contract at this time, it appears in all likelihood that Castro will move on when the winter market opens on January 1.
