The Viola travel to Napoli on Saturday, and Mihajlovic is fearing the worst from Cavani, who is in thunderous form for his club.
"We know we are going to play a great side who will be really fired up after their success against Juve, but if we play like Fiorentina then we can make sure their life won't be easy," Mihajlovic told the press.
"Until last week the best signing had been Ibrahimovic, but after three goals against Juve, Cavani has gone in front. He is the best player in the league and is more decisive than Ibrahimovic.
"For me Cavani has always been an excellent player, but I never expected him to explode so fast."
Napoli sit second in Serie A, with Fiorentina in 12th heading into Saturday's game.
