Quique Sanchez Flores Pleased With Atletico Madrid's Performance Against Espanyol

Atletico Madrid coach Quique Sanchez Flores could not hide his joy at progressing to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey after beating Espanyol 2-1 on aggregate.

The Colchoneros secured a 1-1 draw in the second-leg to set up a meeting with city rivals Real Madrid in the last eight of the competition.

"I am very pleased we have gotten a good result against a big rival," the tactician told Marca after the match. "Espanyol attacked, but we were able to work well as a team and get a good result.

"Despite several players missing, Espanyol deserved the respect of my team. They never gave up, and wanted to win the tie."

The boss also spoke about the winter transfer market, and the possibilities of signing more players to strengthen his current line-up.

"The transfer market is infinitely more attractive than years ago because we can sign players without many limits," he concluded. "We shall see what happens."
